Board of
Directors

About The Board of Directors

The Board of Directors is the legal authority for St. Albert Family Resource Centre. As a member of the Board, a Director acts in a position of trust for the community and is responsible for the effective governance of the centre. The board sets the future of the centre by developing framework policy and strategic direction together with the Executive Director.

The Board operates with a minimum of five and maximum of eleven elected members and may meet monthly or a minimum of 6 times per year as per the centre’s by-laws.

Board members are asked to sit on at least one committee or participate in a special project. Depending on a specific committee’s agenda, the average time will vary and can amount to approximately five hours per month.

We encourage a diverse background of experience, expertise, interest, and energy in the structure of our Board. The more diverse the backgrounds, the better we feel we can meet the concerns and needs of our community as a whole. Since fundraising needs are increasing annually, board members are looked to for additional support in our efforts to meet our fundraising goals.

Prospective board members need to provide their name, address and telephone number to our Volunteer Coordinator who will contact them for a preliminary interview. Successful applicants will be forwarded to the nominating committee. Upon election, new board members will have the opportunity to obtain orientation and training which will provide a more in-depth look at the role of a board member and our centre as a whole.
